About EDM Sessions

The idea for this internet radio station originated in November 2010 — under a different name, in a different city, and at a much different time for the music business.

Founder Marty True launched what was then called “Party 95” on 1/1/11, at 1:11 pm, after its namesake, “95.3 Party,” a former FM radio station in Orlando, Florida, owned by Cox Media Group.

Rewind seven years to 2004 — What was once the most beloved dance music radio station in Central Florida became “yet another Hip Hop station.” “95.3 Party” became “Power 95,” and their massive dance music audience was left completely hanging and in a sad state.

When this happened, Marty quickly acquired the abandoned identity and sat on it until almost seven years had passed. Then, one day in November 2010, he had an epiphany, and the concept of relaunching the radio station as an Internet-only broadcast was born. His professional experience as a radio personality and web developer made this idea highly viable.

Marty began working day and night on what would become “Party 95.”

After growing Party 95 to a significant global audience in what turned out to be a remarkable five-year run, founder Marty True thought the brand still felt a bit “local.” So, he decided to “go dark” as Party 95 and got to work on a rebranding strategy that would break free from that “local FM radio feel.” After moving the operations to Miami, “EDM Sessions” was born a year later, in 2017.

EDM Sessions was the new brand, boasting a “global” and “elevated” vibe. It didn’t, however, relaunch as a radio station (at first).

At the time, and now in Miami, EDM Sessions’ first initiative quickly became preparing to replace the well-known Winter Music Conference (WMC). It appeared that WMC was ready to throw in the towel after 31 years of producing the famous music conference that precedes the Ultra Music Festival every year in mid-March. However, at the last minute, they emerged from the woodwork and announced that they were not done yet, having been acquired by Ultra Music Festival.

Marty wasn’t interested in competing with Ultra, so he fast-tracked the planned expansion to Las Vegas.

In May 2018, EDM Sessions entered the Las Vegas market, solidifying its presence in two major EDM markets in the United States. Las Vegas has long been considered “the EDM capital of America,” and as an international city, it made perfect sense to expand our global audience there.

After almost two years of planting roots and connecting with the scene, EDM Sessions became the dance music radio station in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, just as we were about to open our new broadcast studios, the COVID-19 pandemic halted everything.

Fast-forward to the current day — we are preparing to pick up where things left off and reopen our studios in Miami and Las Vegas. Stay tuned!

EDM Sessions began as a purely internet radio station. Since the early days, we’ve expanded into various other areas of media, but we’ve always stayed true to the electronic music community.

Following our rebrand, the new website we launched for EDM Sessions featured blog content, primarily focusing on music releases and festival lineups.

As we begin the summer of 2023, we’re ushering in another era in our evolution — launching a robust new website that places a strong emphasis on editorial content. In addition, we’re introducing a community component to our brand and have a University launch planned as well.

ENTERTAIN: Entertaining is where it started for us. We aim to entertain the electronic dance music community that we love so much, offering a high-quality source of music through our broadcasts, events that we either produce or collaborate on, and other media content that we hope you find entertaining.

INFORM: Through our editorial efforts, we seek to keep fans informed of upcoming events, new music releases, EDM news, and all happenings in the electronic dance music scene. We also ensure that we are doing our part to inform the dance music community about all opportunities for growth as an emerging artist.

EDUCATE: Whether you find helpful content in our published articles, enroll in our university and take a course, or attend one of our music conferences, we strive to keep education at the core of what we do, so that we continue to contribute to emerging talent.

INSPIRE: Ultimately, we hope that through everything we do, we can inspire as many people as possible to start or continue doing whatever it is that compels them and brings them fulfillment. We want to inspire future artists to take that chance and pursue their musical talents. We want to encourage music fans to turn it up and dance when they need to feel better. We hope to inspire innovation in technology and music by giving entrepreneurs that extra “you can do it, we did” support to come up with the next solution to many problems that need solving.

When founder Marty True rebranded and relaunched the radio station, his goal was to grow the existing global audience even larger than before and solve three significant problems that music consumers face with other streaming alternatives — commercials, streaming fees, and difficulty in discovering new artists!

So, to that end, he decided to broadcast 100% commercial-free and fee-free. You will never hear standard advertisements or commercials, and you will always be able to listen to our high-quality stream, 100% free, forever!

By utilizing sponsorships and leveraging our artist promotion platform for operational revenue, we can deliver the best possible experience to our listeners.

These are the solutions we’ve implemented to ensure that our fans and supporters can access high-quality electronic dance music programming without incurring costs or being interrupted by numerous commercials. We’re also able to give the not-yet-discovered talent worldwide an affordable opportunity to get their music played on the radio alongside the most recognizable artists in the scene.
