Traxsource is taking a definitive step into one of electronic music’s most debated issues: how to handle AI in the creative process without losing sight of the people behind the music.

The house music download platform announced that it will introduce Human-Made and AI-Assisted labels across its marketplace beginning July 1, 2026. The move is designed to give DJs, producers, and music buyers greater transparency about how tracks are created while maintaining room for technological innovation.

The update follows Traxsource’s release of the “Our Position on AI Music” statement earlier this year, which outlined the company’s stance on Artificial Intelligence, content classification, and the growing presence of AI-generated music in the industry. As debates continue across music distribution platforms, streaming services, and creative communities, Traxsource is positioning itself as a platform focused on disclosure rather than prohibition.

To support the initiative, Traxsource has partnered with SH Labs and SoundPatrol, two companies specializing in AI detection technology. According to the company, those systems will help identify and classify music submitted to the platform. Fully AI-generated tracks will be flagged for removal, while other releases will be evaluated and categorized as either AI-Assisted or Human-Made under the platform’s new classification framework.

For a platform that has long marketed itself as being built by DJs for DJs, the decision reflects a broader concern about preserving the value of human creativity as Artificial Intelligence becomes increasingly embedded in music production workflows.

Brian Tappert, co-founder and managing director of Traxsource, framed the decision as another pivotal moment in the company’s history.

“We realize that everything that got us here came from strong convictions and the guts to act on them. Our musical direction, starting Soulfuric, the crazy notion of launching a website selling digital files while the vinyl market was collapsing from online piracy. This AI moment feels like one of those all over again. We do not believe AI is going away. Everything we’re doing is about finding a way to live with it, and making sure the value stays where it belongs, with human-created works.”

That perspective highlights a reality many producers already face. AI tools are increasingly being used for tasks ranging from sound design and composition assistance to mastering and workflow automation. While some artists view those tools as creative accelerators, others worry they could undermine originality and flood marketplaces with low-effort content. Traxsource’s new labeling system attempts to distinguish between those scenarios rather than treating all uses of AI as equal.

The company’s approach draws a clear line between AI-Assisted music, where human creators remain central to the artistic process, and music generated entirely through generative AI systems. Under the updated policy, the latter category will not be supported for distribution on the platform. Traxsource says it is already removing fully AI-generated music daily and has established a rebuttal process for content providers who believe their releases have been incorrectly labeled.

Marc Pomeroy, co-founder and CTO of Traxsource, compared the initiative to modern consumer choices in other industries, emphasizing transparency over restriction.

“We envision a future where shopping for music is like shopping for food today, conventional products right next to certified organic, with the choice left to the consumer. We’re simply using technical means to preserve and uphold organic, human artistry, while keeping the option open for those artists who are pushing the envelope of technology, not wishing to stifle the creative process.”

For DJs, that comparison may resonate. Selection has always been central to DJ culture, whether choosing between formats, labels, genres, or production styles. By surfacing information about the role of AI in a track’s creation, Traxsource is effectively adding another layer to that decision-making process.

The announcement arrives as the wider electronic music community continues to grapple with questions surrounding authenticity, ownership, and creative attribution in the age of AI. While no industry-wide standard currently exists, Traxsource’s implementation of Human-Made and AI-Assisted labels represents one of the more visible attempts to create a framework that balances innovation with accountability.

When the policy takes effect on July 1, users browsing Traxsource will have greater visibility into how music was created. Whether the initiative becomes a model for other platforms remains to be seen, but the company is making its position clear: Artificial Intelligence may become part of the future of music, but transparency will be essential to maintaining trust between artists, DJs, and listeners.
